Orlando Brown Exclusive Interview | The Star Scoop

Orlando Brown Exclusive Interview

Orlando BrownOrlando Brown knows how to make a splash on the sea of fame. After being a third of the star cast in the Disney Channel hit That’s so Raven, he’s busy working on his music. But don’t worry; you can still catch him on Disney, displaying his comedic antics and skill for all to see. Keep watching to see what Orlando Brown will do next. We caught up with him at a recent live appearance where he signed autographs.

THE STAR SCOOP:
So tell us why you do signings.

ORLANDO BROWN:
I’m here for the kids. I’m here because I believe that right now, there are a lot of things going on, and not only am I doing my music thing, but we are here touching the kids, and letting them know there is a positive role model out there that can stand for something and fall for nothing, you know what I mean?

THE STAR SCOOP:
What are you up to these days?

ORLANDO BROWN:
God is doing some magnificent things in my life. I can’t really complain. As far as That’s so Raven is concerned, that’s a chapter in my life that is closed, but it will always be open because these kids got me on top, feeling like somebody. It took a lot to get there, but this music is really what’s going to make my life.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What is your music style?

ORLANDO BROWN:
My style is R&B, it’s rap, it’s rock, it’s everything into one. Everything is clear as it should be. I think a lot of these artists out here have music but it’s not clear. Nobody can understand where they’re coming from or where they’re trying to go in life. I put in front of your face, I put it before your eyes, here it is, this is me, this is what America has made me, this is what you guys let me do, you know what I mean? And I’m proud to do it for you guys, and that’s exactly what it is.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Who are your musical influences?

ORLANDO BROWN:
On the singing side, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cook, Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Usher, everybody on that side. There’s one person that stands out on the rap side and that’s Tupac.

THE STAR SCOOP:
How long have you been singing and doing music?

ORLANDO BROWN:
I’ve been singing and doing music for real, for real since I was about five years old. I started writing and doing all kinds of crazy stuff with things that I discovered along the way in my life. It’s always been there. I grew up in the church, singing in choir, my grandfather used to be pastor at the church, my mother was in the choir, she sang, all that stuff, and it just got passed down to me. It’s definitely been with me my whole life, and I’m just happy to be able to present it to the world.

THE STAR SCOOP:
How much influence is yours with your album?

ORLANDO BROWN:
I write my songs, I don’t produce my songs. I don’t do beats, you know what I mean. I feel like I don’t have to write everything because I am in a joint venture deal which is my C.E.O. is not just my C.E.O., he’s my business partner, so I have say. I can say, well you know what, I think this should be here. I wrote so much on this album, but I’m not a cocky person. We all wrote on this album. So who am I to just take the credit? I really, really appreciate everything that’s been going on.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Do you have advice for kids interested in this business?

ORLANDO BROWN:
This business is nothing nice. I don’t recommend people get into this business, because it’s harsh. It’s a lot on the soul, and it’s a lot on the spirit, it’s a lot on the body, a lot on the physical, all of that. But at the same time, I do say if you want to do this, you have to focus. You have to know when to turn it off, turn it on. You have to know where to go with what you’re trying to do and where you’re not going to go, because you can’t go there. And you have to deal with the fact that you have to sit there. You’re dealing with kids. They are the ones that have to raise this world when we’re done. All I’m trying to do is say to that one kid or that person that feels like they want to do something – hey, don’t let nobody stop you, don’t let nobody tell you that you can’t, as long as it’s what you do, what you breathe, and what you were born with, then do it the fullest and I bet you, you get some kind of positive reaction out of it.
