News – The Star Scoop http://www.yourstarscoop.com 2016. Interviews with today's latest stars and more! Phone: (323) 570-1077 Email: info@thestarscoop.com Wed, 23 Mar 2016 01:22:59 +0000 en-US hourly 1 We Are The World (YouTube Edition) is one of the top 50 videos that defined You Tube for 2010 http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/we-are-the-world-youtube-edition/ http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/we-are-the-world-youtube-edition/#respond Fri, 31 Dec 2010 17:24:59 +0000 http://www.thestarscoop.com/?p=4356

YouTube has named the “We Are the World (YouTube Edition)” video, helmed by Lisa Lavie, as one of the top 50 videos that defined You Tube for 2010. That’s not all! CNN also chose the video as one of the Best Viral Videos Of 2010.

We checked in with Lisa Lavie herself to learn more about the video. We also caught up with a few of the many (50+) talents who participated: Ahmir, J. Rice and Maria Zouroudis.

Lisa Lavie tells TheStarScoop.com exclusively:

“I was in the car driving and the idea to do a YouTube version of “We are The World” popped into my head. I knew this was going to be a huge undertaking, but I was so excited about the idea that I reached out to everyone that night and started piecing it together.

When the final product was complete (5 days later) I was ecstatic as to how it turned out. Iman Crosson spent 3 days non stop editing the video, and seeing this project come to life was so amazing.”

According to J. Rice, “Lisa and Iman should get a YouTube trophy for pulling it off on the editing and arranging side!” KC and Mr. Jones of Ahmir praised Lavie’s “brainchild” and her hard work.

Putting the video together meant that Lavie assigned different parts to each YouTube artist. She did so by going to each  “singer’s channel and listen[ing] to their voice to get a better idea of how high or low a singer could sing, if a particular part would sound better with their tonal quality, etc.”

Mr. Jones of Ahmir adds, “We were definitely honored that she reached out and asked us to be part of it. It was probably the biggest collaboration that YouTube’s ever seen.”

Maria Zouroudis “was excited to be part of such a big collaboration!” and J. Rice was “just happy to have been a part of something like this.”

They all had the opportunity to meet one another and perform together in D.C., KC of Ahmir tells us, and it’s clear that all involved cherish the opportunity and the memory.

J. Rice recalls, “We all got to meet each other in D.C. That was life changing. I have never been around so many gifted and humble people. We went from total strangers to instant friends within a day or two.”

Adds Maria Zouroudis, “We had an awesome weekend of non-stop music and left calling each other family.”

And now, YouTube has named “We Are The World (YouTube Edition)” as one of the top 50 videos that defined You Tube for 2010. We couldn’t agree more. Lavie tells us, I was so shocked when I heard word of that as there is over 24 hours of footage uploaded to YouTube every minute.”

Maria Zouroudis sums up the group feeling, telling us that “we’re all very proud! None of us expected the video to get so much attention.”

We asked the guys from Ahmir whether there would be any more collabs of this size and whether they’d participate?

Oh yeah, definitely,”  says KC.

“We’re all for collabs,” says Mr. Jones. “We’ve got a couple coming up for the beginning of the year that we’re excited about.” Ahmir’s manager, Michael Cheung also notes that “the guys enjoy working with people…forming friendships,” and expressed enthusiasm over creating such wonderful music.

We think Lisa Lavie would be game for another big collaboration too; she adds, “YouTube collaborations are always the best, especially collabs of this magnitude. It unites that entire community and I love that!”

So what’s in store for all of these amazing YouTube artists in 2011? Newly signed Ahmir hopes to drop their first single in the second or third quarter. Maria Zouroudis is “looking to grow my YouTube channel with more exciting content. I’m also planning on completing my first album/EP! It’s going to be a year of hard work and good music!”

Farah Brothers Premiere “Answer This” http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/farah-brothers-premiere-answer-this/ http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/farah-brothers-premiere-answer-this/#respond Sun, 10 Oct 2010 19:45:41 +0000 http://www.thestarscoop.com/?p=3092 Fans and Arielle Kebbel take their seats at Answer This

Brothers Chris Farah and Mike Farah premiered the movie many were calling “a love story to Ann Arbor” on Friday night at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The film stars Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty), Arielle Kebbel (True Blood) as well as famous University of Michigan professor Ralph Williams. Supporting cast includes Nelson Franklin, Kip Pardue and Chris Parnell.

Said Gorham, “I’m so happy that this audience loves this movie. The whole film is a love letter to the people and the city…it’s a great place.”

The film centers around competitive pub trivia and Paul Tarson (Gorham), a Michigan grad student trying to escape the shadow of his famous professor-father (Williams).

The residents of Ann Arbor stepped out and dressed up, coming out in full force. With the first screening completely sold out, a second screening was added and the stars were on hand to enjoy the film with the audience.

At the after party, Gorham, Kebbel, Williams and many Ann Arbor locals who appeared in the film mingled with friends and fans alike. Gorham and Kebbel posted graciously with fans throughout the night while chatting and enjoying the evening.

It was a night that will not be forgotten anytime soon. And, the premiere is just one of many reasons why Michigan residents are excited about the tax incentive that is bringing much of Hollywood to the state.

Benny Marchant Forthcoming Album! http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/benny-marchant-forthcoming-album/ http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/benny-marchant-forthcoming-album/#respond Wed, 15 Sep 2010 23:18:22 +0000 http://www.thestarscoop.com/?p=2552 Benny MarchantThis just in —

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Benny Marchant –former lead singer of The Kings Royal–will release his debut solo EP, Conversations Missed, on September 28 via his own imprint, Marina Records. Produced by Joe Chiccarelli (Radiohead, White Stripes), Conversations Missed is a four-track tour into the spirit of a musician unafraid to explore his feelings–and a sample of what’s to come on early 2011’s Cold Weather full-length album–that leaves the listener wanting more of Marchant’s intimate, tuneful insights.

Painting the stages of love and loss, the songs “Cold Weather,” “Been Too Long,”  “A Better Way” and two versions of the title track, “Conversations Missed,” introduce Marchant’s haunting alternative folk-rock. It’s a tantalizing collection by an electric troubadour, the sound of a hopeful heart that’s bruised but still beating.

The video for the title track and lead single “Conversations Missed”–now arriving at radio–was directed by Alan Tanner (Sea Wolf, Jenny Lewis, M. Ward). In an early review, Brian Willett of Bloginity.com said the video “shows off why so many are becoming absorbed in the Marchant movement–it’s deceptively simple-looking, original and infectious–just like the song itself.” (9/3/10)  Currently featured on AOL Music, the video can be seen here: http://music.aol.com/video/conversations-missed/benny-marchant/bc:590935015001.

All Marchant’s songs confront not just his, but all of our human awakenings and growth–whether it’s the determined positivity of the lonely man in “Conversations Missed,” who makes himself reach for light in his darkness; “Been Too Long”’s realization that it’s finally right to get out of a bad situation, its plaintive sound emphasized by pedal steel guitar; the exultation of allowing yourself to give and receive love in the breezy “Cold Weather”; and the wake-up call of the vibrato cello in “A Better Way”’s reminder that yes, you can recover from a broken heart–and now’s the time to start.

“For me, the best part about recording Conversations Missed as a solo artist was being able to be vulnerable,” says Marchant. “When I was in bands and in the studio I used to hide some of my soul behind the music and sounds. Now I’m not trying to fit in with anyone else but me–a new me.”

Look for show dates in the Los Angeles area to be announced shortly and for an early listen of Conversations Missed visit: http://www.idesignprod.com/bennymarchant_audio/.

David Arquette Visits Local Michigan Store http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/david-arquette-visits-local-michigan-store-2/ http://www.yourstarscoop.com/more/news/david-arquette-visits-local-michigan-store-2/#respond Sat, 24 Jul 2010 03:26:09 +0000 http://thestarscoopcom.fatcow.com/?p=1977 David Arquette

Where: Rear Ends, West Bloomfield, Michigan

What: David Arquette, Propr attire clothing line promotional appearance and fan meet-and-greet

The crowd was abuzz as they waited for David Arquette to enter the West Bloomfield, Michigan store where items from his clothing line, Propr, were displayed in stylish array at the front. As soon as Arquette breezed in through the door, the shirts went flying off the rack.

The Michigan shirt was the first to sell out, but we personally love the I Heart Love shirt, another crowd favorite with for it’s bright yellow, summery hue. Arquette graciously signed the T-shirts and posed for photos with fans, a group made up of babies, kids and adults scrambling for their chance to get face-to-face with the star. And for most fans, it was a true face-to-face encounter; Arquette not only signed autographs but chatted with customers, introducing himself to one lucky lady: “Hi, I’m David.”

Propr Clothing

As if she didn’t know. Arquette’s been a staple in the entertainment business since the 90s, starring in Wes Craven’s Scream franchise as Dewey Riley. In Michigan to shoot Scream 4, (and sporting quite the ‘stache for the role, as he told one fan) Arquette visited the West Bloomfield’s Rear Ends store, about 45 minutes away from Ann Arbor, where Arquette is currently living. Arquette is also an executive producer on wife Courteney Cox Arquette’s show, Cougar Town.

Some fans hoped to see the lovely Courteney Cox Arquette as well. Yet even though she did not make an appearance, not a single person left disappointed with David Arquette or the shirts they purchased.

And how could they be, with the many fun, comfortable designs and various colors to choose from. Arquette tells TheStarScoop.com that the line is “inspired by a lot of vintage detail” and he arrived at the event wearing a blue, brown and white checkered shirt from the Propr line (You can see pictures of that particular shirt by visiting our exclusive interview at www.thestarscoop.com/2010/david-arquette-rear-ends.php).

Propr Clothing

Rear Ends also carries shorts from the line but the T-shirts were the big hit of the day; a full rack in the morning quickly diminished to only a few shirts left, with most styles sold out in less than an hour and a half. Get your shirt from Rear Ends if you live in the area, or they can ship you one. Call the store at (248) 626-4333 and don’t forget to check out Propr at www.proprclothing.com
